In a notice jointly issued on Friday, Hong Kong’s Security Bureau and Shenzhen’s Office of Port of Entry and Exit announced that the new control point will open at 6.30am on Monday, October 12, providing round-the-clock clearance services for passengers and vehicles.

“Acceptance inspection of the new port building of the Huanggang Port has been completed,” according to the notice. “Following the completion of a series of system tests, trials and emergency drills by both Hong Kong and Shenzhen, it has been confirmed that the port is ready for opening.” As the new control point comes into operation, passenger clearance services at the temporary port building of the Huanggang Port in Shenzhen and the Lok Ma Chau Control Point in Hong Kong will be suspended, the notice added.

Police commissioner Joe Chow also gazetted a notice permitting staff participants of the opening ceremony of the Huanggang Port to enter the Hong Kong side of the control point between 4am and 10pm on Sunday.

Director of Immigration Benson Kwok inspected the border crossing on Friday, the Immigration Department said in a social media post. Photos released by the department showed Kwok inspecting e-Channel terminals.
